5G Research Intern - 3-12 months - --West London

£25000 - £30000 per annum + PRO RATA + Some Benefits!

This is a brand new role in a brand new team that is being created by my client (who is a smashing technology research company) This is an excellent chance to gain some valuable work experience with a brilliant name.

Purpose of role:

This intern role is based within the 5G research (EU funded) team and is responsible for delivering the contractual commitments in my clients 5G European research projects.

My client is a key partner in the flagship ICT-20 European project LOCUS, which develops innovative localisation and positioning solutions for 5G and beyond.

They also contribute to all of the technical work packages of this project and I am looking for a suitable candidate for an internship of 6 months- 1 year to further enhance their research capacity.

You will work closely with the other members of the 5G research team, who will provide guidance on the research topics/areas.

Within this role, you will need to plan and deliver the research to tight time scales, including simulation results for validation.

You will also present the research findings in the relevant work package tele-conferences and at 4-monthly project plenary meetings, contribute to the project deliverables/ internal reports and also disseminate the research to wider audiences.

Technical areas of work:

As an intern you will be expected to have a thorough knowledge of the localisation techniques used in the cellular and other wireless technologies and an understanding of what 5G evolutions can provide in this domain.

Also, you will need to support the development of potential new services and network management tools as applications of accurate localisation.

In addition to the theoretical aspects of these topics, an appreciation of how these techniques are currently being adapted in 3GPP Release 16 standards would be very useful

Skill set required!

* Post-graduate degree (preferably having completed or completing a PhD) in wireless communications/ signal processing.
* Good analytical skills in research, demonstrated by high quality publications.
* Ability to develop complex simulations in MATLAB and to develop code as part of a system level simulator.
* Good oral and written communication skills.
* Ability to work as part of a team and also self-motivated, results oriented.

Wish list skills:

Prior working experience within European Commission funded research projects. Working knowledge of 3GPP Release 15. Experience in developing/ running a system level simulator.

This role will have an element of EU/International travel, therefore you must be an UK/EU Passport holder.
