Communications Manager - --Southampton

£40 - £45 per annum

My client is a unique start up that develops technology solutions to address humanitarian problems.

Their work is a very interesting blend of software development, data analytics, academic research, and international development, that takes place in a dynamic and highly collaborative environment.

The Communications Manager will work closely with my clients leadership to design the Organisation's communications management strategy and oversee its implementation.

The Communications Manager in collaboration with relevant parts of the organization will be responsible for the organisations communication activities and outputs, including websites, social media, e-newsletters, media and public relations, and marketing materials.

The Communications Manager will also play an important role in monitoring and supporting high-quality internal communication procedures.

Within this role, the Communications Manager will have the opportunity to:

1 Develop and implement the organisation's communication management strategy and for assigned projects, including managing communications with government and UN agencies, as well as managing engagement with the wider development community
2 Work with the leadership team to manage relationships with client and partner organisations
3 Oversee communications policies and guidelines, manage internal brands and ensure the production of high-quality work
4 Develop and cultivate relationships with international and country-based stakeholders to our work, to raise client's profile and highlight the issues the organisation is tackling
5 Develop the organisation's brands, manage use of its logos
6 Identify and manage upcoming communications opportunities and priorities such as conferences, workshops and press conferences, and implement communication plans in collaboration with project team;

We are looking for:

1 A genuine interest in, and willingness to further understand the mission and operations of the organisations
2 Minimum 5 years of experience in Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications or relevant field;
3 University degree in related field, an advanced degree and/or certificates an asset;
4 Superior communications skills, both spoken and written. Fluency in English and a second language preferable; French and Swedish are plus
5 Strong leadership and people management skills;
6 Proven ability to develop and execute strategic and creative communication strategies;
7 Experience in the development or humanitarian sectors desirable;
8 Outstanding oral, editing and writing skills;
9 Strong creative problem-solving and detail oriented;
10 Ability to manage competing priorities.
