Knowledge Engineer (Research and Development) - --West London

£50 - £80 per annum + + Benefits and £££Bonuses and TREATS

Working for a lovely, innovative technology company I am looking for a Knowledge Engineer to join a brand new team in a brand new role, working under the umbrella of Data Intelligence. The DI team researches and develops innovative methods of organising and analysing Data and then how to act on that Data to build better products and experiences for their customers.

This is a NEW role in a NEW team, so it’s the chance for someone to take a blank canvas and create something from nothing.

Your role will cover:

* Investigation and then implementation of methods to create knowledge bases or graphs from HTML tables or SQL Databases or TEXT based data (such as web pages)
* Research new developments and innovations within the KNOWLEDGE representation/graph construction community.
* Within this role, you will also work with internal and external partner teams who might be based in Academia or perhaps a partner company (start-up, VC etc)

Your skill set would be great for this role if it looked a bit like the below (please don’t worry about ticking every box!):

* A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline (OR an equivalent time spent working in a similar role)
* Strong knowledge in data structures, algorithm design and complexity analysis.
* Strong knowledge of Python, Java, C++ or other modern programming languages.
* Strong problem-solving abilities.
* Excellent communication, team work

BONUS SKILLS – if you have any of these, it’s a bonus but not essential:

* ANY experience (commercial, academic project or personal project) of web crawling/scraping (HTML, CSS, packages such as Scrapy – other packages are available)
* Experience with applying Statistical Natural Language Processing tools and techniques.
* Experience of interacting with those big old large scale databases (SQL, NoSQL).
* Good understanding of Ontologies & Semantic Web Technologies (OWL, RDF, SWRL, SPARQL, Jena)
