Marine Electronic Service Engineer - --Aberdeen

£35000 - £40000 per annum + annual bonus / allowances

Marine Electronic Service Engineer required by our Communications client in Aberdeen. This role would ideally suit an experienced offshore service engineer.


Key Responsibilities:

- Responsible for quality and timeliness of own work.

- Assisting in the identification of complex problems and applying diagnostic methods to identify causes and propose possible solutions.

- Providing estimations (time & materials) for tasks and adhering to them.

- Adhering to company practices and policies, especially health and safety and reporting any issues.

- Managing security of information as defined in the Security manual.

- Fault diagnosis and repair of Ultra supplied equipment in Aberdeen workshop and onshore/offshore customer sites, ensuring all testing & records are accurately updated.

- Installing and commissioning of Ultra supplied equipment & systems at customer sites as directed.

- Completing scheduled maintenance on Ultra systems subject to support contracts in accordance with current maintenance routines.

- Documenting all activities as detailed in Ultra QMS, including Site Reports, Defect Reports, Delivery Notes and Job Cards.

- Providing training to customers & other engineers, as required, on Ultra supplied products.

- Liaising with and providing technical support to other departments such as Projects, Production and Development.

- Writing of technical reports, specifications and test procedures.

- Providing telephone and e-mail technical support to customers and Ultra employees as required.


Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Essential:

• Experience installing, maintaining and repairing complex electronic systems in an offshore or marine environment.
• Good understanding of IT, Networks and Software based solutions.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with high standards of attention to detail.
• Confidence in building relationships with customers with a strong ability to communicate technically at all levels.
• Flexible approach to working hours and patterns inclusive of anti-social hours, weekends etc. Willing to work overtime if required and to travel to customer sites in the UK and overseas as required.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and at height.


Qualifications: Essential

• ONC/OND or qualified by experience.
• Full driving licence.

Desirable

• Offshore Certified – BOSIET/FOET, Medical and MIST
• COMPEX
• Working at height qualifications and experience

Functional/Technical
Skills Diagnostics and fault finding from network/equipment diagrams to board level
PC Literate and able to use a variety of software.
