Software Development Engineer - --West London

£55000 - £68000 per annum + pension, bonus & benefits

I am looking for an enthusiastic software engineer to work in the area of airline passenger servicing systems.

Role:

You will join the team that develops and maintains the software that handles the complex logic to allocate seats to passengers in the plane, that allows the customer to chose their seat and the airlines to charge for specific seats as well as how to optimize the occupation of the plane by onloading or changing a customer from a cabin to another.



Main responsibillies:


Maintain and optimise
• Troubleshoot and investigate defects raised by our customers to ensure compliance of our products to the specifications and system integrity
• Debug existing code in response to Problem Tracking Records (PTR) and Change Requests (CR)
• Create and update standardized documentation
• Conduct routine performance analysis in order to optimize software



Create and Innovate
• Demonstrate interest and experience in learning new technologies and methodologies
• Design solutions meeting the requirements set by internal/external customers
• Identify interactions and assess impacts with other packages to ensure functional compatibility of the solution with each area
• Perform feasibility studies, evaluate results and propose viable solutions accordingly
• Evaluate and integrate technologies from other providers, where suitable
• Identify hardware, software and technology platforms that need to be integrated to meet current and future business needs
• Contribute to innovation and product evolution within their functional area by sharing with peers & product managers information such as industry trends & standards etc.
• Show creativity and autonomy in finding solutions to nontrivial problems



Collaborate
• Work closely with Product Management, Technical Business Analysts, and Quality Assurance to create and develop high quality code for internal/external customers that works and is consistent with requirements documents
• Collaborate with your fellow team members, to benefit from their knowledge and different backgrounds, and bring your own assets to the team
• Coordinate cross team/cross area development with other teams and developers


Requirements:

Education:

Post-secondary degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent experience



Relevant work experience:

C++ development experience



Business understanding:

- An understanding of what it takes to design, build and operate a large scale, complex system that has to operate flawlessly 24x7, 365 days per year.

- Excellent interpersonal skills – you will work with other operations and development teams on a daily basis.


Skills:

Computing: C++, Java, Unix, Python, Oracle, SQL

Languages: Fluent English

Specific knowledge: Travel industry IT experience is a plus

Other: Kanban and SCRUM methodologies, Team spirit, Multicultural approach, good communication skills, analytical and conceptual thinking, customer focus
